Copilot Agents Workshop: Researcher, Analyst and Your First Custom Agent

January 8, 2027 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$350.00
Hands-on, 3 hours. Prompt Coach, Researcher, Analyst, and two agents you build and test. Paid Copilot license required.

The same five questions arrive every week, and the answer is always in the same document.

You open the Agent Store and see the difference between the agents Microsoft provides and the ones you build. You use Prompt Coach to turn a vague request into a clear prompt, run it in Researcher to get a sourced report and check the sources, and use Analyst to work through a data file and check one figure. Then you build an agent that answers policy questions from a document, test it with questions it should and should not answer, and learn what sharing it means. You finish with a second agent grounded in a public website and compare the two.

What you will do

  • Find agents in the Agent Store and tell prebuilt agents from custom ones
  • Use Prompt Coach to turn a vague request into a clear prompt
  • Get a sourced report from Researcher and check the sources
  • Work through a data file with Analyst and check one figure
  • Build an agent that answers questions from a policy document, and test it
  • Build a second agent grounded in a public website, and compare the two

You leave with: A tested policy agent, a second agent grounded in a website, and a checked Researcher report.

Copilot license: Copilot Premium (the paid Microsoft 365 Copilot license).

Who it is for: Licensed Copilot users who are ready to go past chat: team leads, HR and policy owners, analysts and power users.

What you need

  • Microsoft 365 Copilot license: the paid add-on, or Microsoft 365 E7, which includes it. The Copilot label under the user’s name reads M365 Copilot (Premium). Researcher and Analyst need the paid license and have usage limits. The organization must allow users to create and share agents. Prompt Coach is a Microsoft prebuilt agent; whether it is available depends on the organization. Sample files are sent before class and saved to OneDrive.
  • Check before you register: Open Microsoft 365 Copilot with your work account and read the label under your name at the bottom of the page. It must end in (Premium).
  • Microsoft 365 Copilot license assigned. Has used Copilot Chat. No programming needed.
  • A computer with a reliable internet connection. The online meeting link is sent after you register.

You receive: Lab exercise handout, the sample files and a list of every prompt used in class.

Length: 3 hours. Level: Intermediate. Format: Live session, hands-on. Each person works in their own account.

Your instructor: Cecil Renshaw is a Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) and Project Management Professional (PMP) with more than 18 years of Microsoft 365 training and consulting for government agencies, corporations and small businesses.
