Course Overview

The goal of this instructor-led training course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to take advantage of SharePoint and Nintex Forms for the purpose of automating business processes. The learning experience will be a combination of instructor presentations and hands-on lab exercises. It is recommended users have a basic understanding of SharePoint list and libraries but no prior experience with Nintex is required.


This Nintex training course teaches the out-of-the-box functionality and is not intended for those who are primarily interested in using Visual Studio and .NET development to create workflow solutions in SharePoint. The course is intended for:

Course Outline:

Introduction to SharePoint

  • High level overview of SharePoint
  • Highlighting basic features of SharePoint (list, libraries, settings, etc.)

Exercise – Creating a new list in SharePoint

Overview of Nintex Workflows

  • Nintex Forms – On-premise vs. Online (similarities and major differences)
  • Using Nintex and SharePoint

Getting Started with Nintex Forms

  • Introducing the Nintex Forms Designer
  • Creating a basic form
  • Working with labels and images on the form
  • Previewing and publishing forms

Exercise – Creating your first form

Working with the form and controls settings

  • Changing the size and layout of the form
  • Working with the form controls settings
  • Using the format painter
  • Implementing CSS for layout

Exercise – Changing the size and layout of the form and working with controls

Working with Form Controls

  • Adding new controls
  • Using Calculated Values

Exercise – Adding new SharePoint columns (fields) and displaying values

  • Using Look-ups and Cascading Lookups
