SUMMARY:Power BI Jumpstart: From an Excel File to an Interactive Report
DESCRIPTION:Hands-on\, 3 hours. Connect Power BI Desktop to an Excel file\, clean the data\, and build a report page with a slicer.\n\n\nThe monthly report is an Excel file you rebuild by hand. \nYou connect Power BI Desktop to an Excel sales file and clean it in Power Query. You format the numbers as currency\, add a product hierarchy and two measures that count orders and customers correctly. Then you build a dashboard page: four KPI cards\, a year slicer\, a sales trend line chart and a sales-by-category bar chart you can drill into\, and you control which visuals the slicer filters. The instructor shows how a report is published and shared. \nWhat you will do \n\nFind your way around Power BI Desktop\nConnect to an Excel file and clean the data in Power Query\nFormat numbers and add a product hierarchy and two measures\nBuild KPI cards\, a slicer\, a trend line chart and a drill-down bar chart\nControl which visuals a slicer filters\nExplain what is needed to share a report\n\nYou leave with: A report file with a dashboard page: four KPI cards\, a year slicer\, a trend line chart and a drill-down bar chart. \nWho it is for: Analysts and managers who report from Excel today and are new to Power BI. \nWhat you need \n\nA Windows PC with Power BI Desktop installed.
